Strange Connections
The work from 2010–2012 brings previously parallel investigations, abstract material processes and recursive studio imagery, into direct contact. Rather than operating as separate modes, these approaches begin to merge within single canvases, producing images where structure, depiction, and material behavior are no longer clearly divided.
The work pushes further into fiction and constructed space while simultaneously flattening and destabilizing it. As line and structural clarity are reduced, spatial distortions emerge and scenes become increasingly ambiguous. Figures, environments, and painterly gestures interweave, creating images that oscillate between depiction and abstraction.
These works explore increasingly strange connections between abstraction, representation, and constructed space. What emerges is a more complex and unstable pictorial field, where multiple logics are held in tension within a single image without resolving into a fixed system.
